My name is Giles, I make an online show called "The Airgun Gear Show' and have been doing so for 8+ years. I used to shoot airguns as a youngster, before everything became so PC and everyone got scared. Every Sunday I would go to Long Marston car boot and buy a second hand air rifle, some would work, and some would not....my first ever was a Gat air pistol. To cut a long story short, here I am....developing airgun101.com and now having a punt at a forum. Would love to talk more to shooters and be able to help, and in these challenging times we need as many outlets to chat as possible. So welcome, please enjoy. Giles

Hi guys I’m Brian aka “Inkedshooter” based out of California. I used to wrench on high end European vehicles for a living and a few years ago I started my own real estate photography business when my Wife became a realtor. I also write/contribute to a few outdoor lifestyle blogs reviewing or highlighting a piece of gear, talk about a location outdoors, or interview an outdoors product maker. To also keep photography as a hobby I created another website featuring nature stuff and the outdoors lifestyle. Soon I’ll be creating a blog page discussing some Airgun and powder burner products that the other blogs I write for do not feature. About 15 years ago a good friend of mine introduced me into the firearm world and shortly after encouraged me to shoot my first revolver match. After the first match I was hooked and continued shooting ICORE and USPSA for a number of years before getting married and starting a family which my priorities had to shift. Once my boys were old enough to talk I started to teach them about firearm safety, shooting their Red Ryders, and some rimfires. And at that point I started getting the competition bug again. While chatting with the same friend, he told me he’s been shooting Airguns and at that point all I knew about Airguns was what you found at a local sporting goods store. He mentioned Airgun matches and was shortly off to Utah to shoot the first RMAC. He came back and told me all about RMAC and EBR while at the same time showing me his Impact, in which I’m thinking “I need one!”. Like others I started my YouTube education on Airguns and flooded myself with as much about different makes and models before picking up a Gauntlet as my first pcp shortly after a Diana Outlaw then my first Impact. My friend ended up on the Daystate shooting team and during Shot Show 2019 introduced me a few of the well known shooters and manufacturers which lit a fire under my butt to make it a goal to shoot an Airgun match. I shot The Extreme Benchrest in 2019 for my first match and I’m more than officially hooked!
Hi guys my name is Tom. I'm 26 and I have only been shooting properly for 18 months. The airgun bug has bit me hard! I kind of got into shooting in an odd way. I've never had any family members that shoot, or any friends that are into it. It was always something that I wanted to do but had no idea how to. I had done a have-a-go .22lr session at a local range a few months before which got me thinking again. So I started looking up what other local ranges and RFD's were about. Well 18 months ago I took the plunge and bought my first rifle a gamo phox .177. I then set off the next day for the first time to a range with my own rifle. I was super excited but also going on my own was a bit worried. I've never met people that have been as welcoming and helpful as the shooting community. I learnt a hell of a lot in the first 12 months of airgun shooting. As I progressed in those months my equipment also needed to change. I was starting to outshoot the capabilities of my rifle. I went through a few rifles after the phox I had an r10 for 2 weeks that was just terrible, a s400 I should never had sold, a brocock bantam sniper hr I never bonded with and a bsa scorpion I sold to fund something special. Then came the rifle that started to change things. I bought an FX Dreamline classic in .177 this rifle in absolute beast! I can honestly say this one will never leave me for as long as I'm breathing. By this time I had been a member of the local airgun range/club (rifleman firearms) for about 6 months. This was also the time I bought a 3d printer and started messing about making some rifle parts. Anyway back to the shooting. At my club they do a 25 yard and 50 yard monthly rolling competition. They upload the highest score you shoot over the month at each distance and also your highest average on the last day of the month to the online range scoreboard. By this time I was shooting 2 or 3 times a week for 6 hours. It was certainly paying off. After a lot of work testing and tuning I took the 50 yard high score with my dreamline. I was over the moon. The previous 50 yard high score had stood for a long time and I beat it by a lot. I couldn't believe it. Now it was time to try and get the 25 yard high score. Noone had ever had both the 25 yard and 50 yard highscores. I tried and tried no matter what I did I could not beat the high score. You can probably start to tell I'm a bit competitive. So I started to research a lot into what makes an airgun and shooter competitive at 25 yards. This introduced me to the world of 25m benchrest. I thought I was an accurate shooter but my goodness the accuracy these guys had was incredible. I remember reading one thing that really stood out to me which is a 25 meter airgun should be setup for just that distance. Sounds obvious doesn't it? But with my dreamline I preferred to shoot longer distances which it seemed to love but wasn't that good at 25 yards. So I started looking into possibly a new rifle just for 25m benchrest. This is when I got recommended the air arms HFT 500 by a 25m benchrest shooter. After a bit of research I ordered one and got a nice Sightron 36x42 scope to go along with it. I knew this rifle was going to be good but I had no idea just how good. I picked it up first thing on a Saturday morning and went straight to the range. After some pellet testing at the range I went about setting zero and shooting the monthly 25 yard competition card. My jaw almost went through the bench. I was one X off a perfect score! With that I had set the high score for 25 yards and achieved my goal of both high scores. A couple months went by after this and I kept winning the monthly competitions with my trusty dreamline and hft 500. I was longing for more competition so started looking into national level 25m benchrest. I found out there was actually an event being held soon only an hours drive from me perfect! I'll never forget the first day of practice at my first national level event. I was bricking it. I was thinking am I ready? Am I good enough to be here? Well its time to find out if all this practice had paid off. Now I had no idea you had to bring your own wind flags. But a nice chap let me borrow his. He was also giving me some very helpful advice and also some tips and tricks. I didn't know who the chap was at the time. Turns out he was the current no.1 in the UK at 25m benchrst. So day 2 comes, first competion day. I done my cards and awaited the results of the light varmint class. I couldnt belive it I came 10th out of 21. I though I was going to be bottom of the table. Day 3 didn't go quite so well in the heavy varmint I had an equipment malfunction. Of all things my front rest had the bag split at the seams. I carried on but it was no good unfortunately I came 16th out 21. A month goes by and the engineering side of my brain just keeps thinking of ways I can improve stuff to help my scores. This takes us up to 4 days ago as of writing this. I've done a lot of studying in different ways you can tune an airgun but there's always one way that noone ever addresses. Hopefully when this covid-19 virus is dealt with I can test it out. If it works it could be a real industry game changer. But there you go thats my shooting story right up to now. Hope I didn't bore everyone too much with that but if you read all the way to the end thank you and keep safe ?

Bad Shot here,
I am a retired engineer from a large metropolitan fire Dept. In Southern California.
I’ve been a gun guy my whole life. I love air gunning because I can do it in my own back yard relatively quietly. Air gunning will make you a better rifle shooter many of the principles are exactly the same minus The severity of recoil control.
I am a junkie for the airgun video channels that is what led me here. I appreciate all of you and what you have to offer and thank you for the opportunity to participate.

Tommyj157 Hello....well, we have a competition winner on board
. Well Done, I am not good enough to win competitions so I tip my hat to you. I have watched shooters at the 25, and the dedication is remarkable, along with all the little tricks they all try just to gain that 1mm closer to the X. I only shoot the competitions in the USA, as part of my trips abroad, and the pressure is immense - could never do that every few weekends, I would fall to pieces. Enjoyed your Bio Intro - Welcome aboard. G

Hi all from Canada,I am new to air rifles myself but shot powder burners for 50+ years.
Last fall I was bored and decided to buy an Air Arms prosport in.22 cal and also started to do some looking online. Long and the short of it All my powder burners are gone except some handguns and shotguns for sporting clays But I have a new FX impact 700mm in.22cal and i am having a lot of fun.
Stay safe
Francis

Hello from Colorado
(elbowing Giles, that's right next to Utah
)Colo. native, English and Cherokee Indian (God only knows what else) I've been airgunning about 15 yrs, and I'm an Old Geezer (past 60) Im made of Real Cowboy values and integrity and if ya don't say thanks If I hold a door for ya, you'll likely receive a comment you won't like. Been made a Grandpa I don't know how many times now. I have a variety of springers and gas spring types that gather dust after acquiring a Hatsan AT-44 QE Long .22 Self-modified to flatten the shot string and increase no. of shots. (successfully) I wound up here searching for an upper-end used PCP. While educating myself on whos who on the mountain of possible candidates and reading thousands of classified posts, I ran across and viewed some of Giles videos. I can't help but chuckle while watching because of the humor you so smugly insert into them.(Tip of the hat) for videos that are presented with good editing and quality content. It wasn't long before I realized you are among the top shelf of enthusiasts and promoters of airguns, rubbing elbows with well-known people in the industry. Somewhere on the information gathering journey that has my head spinning from TMI and days sitting in front of this computer, I ran into this site. My head still spinning from information overload I credited Matt Dobber as being one of the founding fathers of Airgun 101(hopefully I deleted that post before anyone read it) Now I credit Giles Barry and thank him for this site and Blame Matt Dubber for ruining my budget and spending days searching for my next PCP of FX lineage. (I hope he steps in a cacti barefooted!) LOL Just kidding, Matt Is a tremendous asset to the airgun industry. His exploring barrel designs and sharing knowledge of ballistics has given the airgun precision and shooting distances only drempt of just a few years ago ...(to be edited soon ish) Great website Giles, two thumbs up It has a fresh, new exciting feeling to it with its easy to navigate layout. I feel privileged to be among its first new members. (I remove my hat and with a deep bow) CHEERS to Giles Barry. Thank You Sir for this wonderful airgun site.
Now that I've convinced myself the FX Impact MK2 is the one for me(I think) I'm off... searching

Hi Giles it’s Martin from NottsPestControl, great to see the forum up and running. Just watched the 0.177 Hades video with interest as I was glad to see they are the same weight as JSB heavies which I like to use for hunting on my Bunny permission. I’ve just bought a Dreamline Compact Tactical with FX folding stock adaptor in 0.177 but can’t get out to use it! I’ll be buying a tin of these to try in it as soon as I can, and getting some new videos up ASAP. Stay safe and keep up the good work my friend, hope to see you at the NSS in August if they let us out! All the best. Martin

Hi Guys
Just thought I'd sign up as I'm an active member on several UK forums and I can see this one gaining momentum as time goes on - plus it was free
I've been shooting for decades but now just use air rifles and the occasional .22LR for BR. I don't collect guns, but have had 50+ over the years, mostly target orientated and higher spec stuff as well as having quite a few Daystates as I like the electronics.
I'm now retired so have plenty of spare time, but I don't shoot more than about once a week as I don't want it to become boring, and as I also like motorbikes and travel I have to share the good weather with those pastimes also
I'm sure I can help and contribute easily, but equally I like to pick things up also.
I'd post a couple of pictures, but the size limit makes it too much hassle to do so, something the admin may want to look at?
Stay safe.
James

Hi Giles,
Just bought an FX crono and slugs from 101, never realised it was you from Utube!
I am a part time keeper and am looking at buying an FX Mk 2 impact with 600mm barrel in .25. Now I only have one barrel on my ticket so have you done any tests on your FX impacts, putting both slugs and pellets down the same barrel?
If so which barrel is the best all rounder?
Thanks and top marks for all the vids, if only my maths teacher had been as good!!
PBD, Leicestershire.
