What you want and what you can afford, shame there not the same for me. What i want is an FX Dreamline Compact tactical, a 5litre Air tank and a nice scope, total about £1500-£1600. What i can afford about half of that, so £200 for the tank leaves £600 for the gun and no scope. i'll use my existing red dot and wait a couple of months to get a scope, so that leaves me with what gun, Kral Knight wood, Kral puncher Hi Cap, Kral Puncher breaker, Hatsan Hydra, SMK Nove Vista alpha, Webley Raider12 Quatro, Second hand Weihrauch HW110. I am leaning towards the Hi-Cap Kral ,the Nova vista Alpha Or Hatsan Hydra. Decisions, Decisions, Decisions. haha I hope it is the right one in the end. Main use will be plinking, target and Ratting general fun shooting out to 55-60 yards.

you can't take it with you (money, that is) and you only live once, so it sounds like you know what you want - thats what credit is for.

so if you don't smoke or drink or womanise - you can afford it

I'd say go for the Nova. Very cool line of guns in my opinion.

When I wanted to upgrade from a Hatsan AT44-10 to an AirArm S510. I sold the Hatsan and asked all my family to give money instead of pressies for Xmas and Birthday. That raised over half the price the rest I paid on interest free credit.

Its taken me nearly 20 years to finally get a quality rifle that is perfect out of the box. I still get a lot of fun out of my Chinese Co2 rifle though. So, plan ahead and be patient.
