Hi everyone.
I am trying to find more.30 cal sub 12 ft lbs videos.
The video Giles did with the crown yellow jacket was really interesting and I’d like to see more sub 12 in this calibre!
Thanks.

FX .30 pellet is 44.8 grains, at 345FPS thats 11.83FP, I should imagine if it hits its target it will kill it but why would you want to use .30 or even .25 in the UK with 12 fp gun. If i had an unlimited FAC gun or lived in the USA .22 and .177 would not be in the game, I would be with the .25 and .30 every time.

Hi all.
Thanks for the great replies and interesting feedback!
I understand that 345 FPS is very slow but under lockdown conditions where your only option to get your shooting “fix”
Is a bit of backyard plinking and conserving air may be necessary !
So seeing a bit more in this calibre at lower power levels would be nice as there’s loads of high power videos out there.
It might open up more positive opinions on the subject and make some interesting viewing.
Thanks again
Mick.

Hi all
Thanks for the reply
Judging by Giles review of the yellow jacket in sub 12 .30 cal, 30 yards is ok too!
And would love to see more!!!
Best regards
Mick.

Just been playing with Strelok + using the following settings for a .30 calibre jsb .30 44.75 grain pellet with a BS of .0427, and with a hawk 4x16 scope 2.25 inches above the bore and shooting at about 11.5fp. The table below gives distance to target at 2 yard intervals, Bullet speed in fps, energy in fp, inches hold over or under, MOA and Mrad readings. out to 36 yards it appears to retain more or less the same energy at same distances but the speed is about half that of a .177 jsb 10.4 grain, and the drop is 9 inches for the .30 and .5 for a .177.at 36 yards

Hi balmer
Thanks so very much for your time and patience doing that test for me and the rest of us on here who are interested but can’t do it because of restrictions!
I agree that the pellet retains a lot of energy down range,it makes very interesting reading and I’ll check the figures out and reply back.
A bit of paper punching to check groups at different ranges is next for anybody who can?
Thanks again balmer, you’re a real credit to the sport!!!
Best regards
Mick.

personally for me, 30 cal sub 12..... the negatives outweigh the benefits. short range bodies on the floor pest shooting fine, maybe.... but anything where any sort of range is needed - go .22... extra knockdown over a .177 for example, but still has a bit of a punch behind it. fac though.... well thats a different question!

Hi all
Thanks James for your view on this interesting and unusual calibre in sub 12 and any feedback from our airgun community is great to hear!
This question was asked by me on here on the strength of the video Giles did on the fx crown in .30 cal sub 12 ft lbs and
Really tickled my pickle as it’s a new and not yet explored avenue for the sport we all love and can’t all have access to because of restrictions.
The internet is awash with mega power big calibre stuff doing amazing things at amazing distances but it’s nice to see something different and something to talk about, possibly getting some 177 only users to explore more options, some see sub 12 .22 as too big,so bring on more big bore stuff and chuck it in the mix!
Even if it’s just for a chuckle.
Thanks again
