G’Day Fellas,

I’m chasing some of the collective wisdom here.

I have an Fx Impact Mk2 with the power plenum. .22, .25 and .30 barrels and slug liners with an Athlon Ares BTR 4.5-27x50 on top.

I’m told that you need adjustable rings once converting over to .30 and are wondering how many MOA or MRAD are required?

I do have adjustable rings that were supplied by the FX importer, however, I’m about to buy a chassis rifle (Tikka Tac A1in .308) and would like to purchase high end quick release rings to allow the scope to be swapped out.

I was going to buy a dedicated scope, however, I intend to buy a Pard 008 also, which will require the removal of the Athlon from the Impact anyway.

Any input would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Thx Giles,

I was using a similar theory but using StelokPro, however, the unknown for me is the .30 cal data as I didn’t get a chance to try that barrel out before this bloody ? hit the world and we were locked down.

The mount I’m able to get here in Australia is called a Spurh, very similar but made in Sweden and are $549 Au.

A part of my theory was working on something Keith(68 Whiskey) pointed out in one of his vids about getting down in the bottom part of your scopes elevation upon zeroing.

On a side note it’s all changed a bit now because I’ve had to change my .308 selection because I need to buy a gun off the shelf to take advantage of the pre ? prices.......all our firearm distributors have had a 20%-27% price increase across the entire industry in the past two months.

So.....the winning is a Lithgow Arms LA 105 Woomera (big roota) but they have 20 MOA/6MRAD built in..????✌️ That should give a few wild dogs a ? of their own.

Thanks again for taking the time Giles.

Evening....

OK....I could be here for hours writing a response to this one.

So - I use Chairgun from Hawke - its on the app store. You can put in your zero, velocity and it graphs the whole thing up for you - compare everything and its free.

Scope rings, yep.....high end.....well yes you will need high quality quick release....Midwest style

The long and short of it is find your velocities and use Chairgun and then know what you have to dial, then check what the scope can do.

My reply may help a tiny bit....
:p
