Mystery pistol. Challenger Arms Corp CO2 pistol with EAGLE ROCK 41 CALIF stamp. How
can this be ???? Very, very, very unusual. Also stamped S 22, NEVER seen this stamp. We all
have seen the C 22, 22, and no stamp at all. This gun came with box, paperwork, and the
extremely rare 10 inch target barrel which is not shown in this post. I bought this about a week
ago. I welcome all comments. Site will not allow my photos to appear. sorry. bluenun5@aol.com for photos.

... further more and probably more in relation to your pistol markings perhaps and I quote from Jimmie Dee's Airguns website at http://www.jimmiedeesairguns.com/pistols/the-challenger-arms-corporation-plainsman-co₂-pistol-1954-1958

"The CO₂ Plainsman pistol was also available in both .177 and .22 calibres although today, .22 calibres are more commonly found. I have only seen one .177 calibre CO₂ Plainsman which suggests that they may not have been produced in as many numbers as the .22 variant. There also appears to be two sub-variants of the CO₂ Plainsman as some are marked with the calibre on the right hand side of the breech housing and some are not. Also, some that are marked with the calibre are also marked “C” perhaps for CO₂ whereas others are just marked “22” or “177”. It is possible at some stage it was decided not to stamp the frames with the calibre to reduce costs on the production line as the barrels may have been interchangeable."

Happy reading and happy airgunning!

Hello there Max,

I thought you might find the information in the article I found on 'Jimmie Dee's Airguns' website interesting, as it explains a lot about the Challenger Arms Corp Plainsman Pistol pneumatic air gun and the history in the making etc. :

http://www.jimmiedeesairguns.com/pistols/the-challenger-arms-corporation-plainsman-pneumatic-1949-1951

If I am not mistaken, I have found pictures of your gun with the same query on 'Airgun Nation', so I hope that I am on the right track as it looks very similar to the pictures on Jimmie Dees' site, some of which which I have added below ...
