I pulled the trigger and bought an FX Dreamlite in .22. I’ve been shooting a weihrauch 97 for years. Huge difference in the shooting action. At first the PCP shot so calmly I thought it had minimum power. I then realized two pellets in the same hole bored all the way through a 2x4. I’ve tuned way down in order run very quietly and to maximize the shot count. Shot 500 rounds with no flyers. I only have 60 feet as I live near the coast. Not a lot of land given out here. I put a donny shogun on the front end. Big can but super quiet. The pellet impacting is by far the loudest part of the operation. I also bought a hawke sidewinder to put on top. I think airgun 101 influenced me a lot as I wanted to support my UK airgun brothers. I had to buy an air tank as well for filling so it was an expensive day. Nice to have it perform well after making such a large investment. I realize I’m shooting a very short distance that is why the pellet on pellet extreme accuracy is so important. Aim small miss small.

Congratulations on your acquisition. Are you filling from an external tank or do you have a pump or compressor on hand?

I have a 177 version, love it, how many shots per fill are you getting?

I am on low power and minimum hammer spring. Only shooting 50 feet. 4 magazines at least

When you say "low" power is that the port restrictor (Low/.177/.30)? if so you should remove it and see how it works

On the outer we have:
The low hole is 1.4mm
The 177/22 hole is 4.4mm
The .25/.30 hole is 7mm

but the fixed inner is either 4.4mm Sub 12 or 7mm FAC

So if you use it on low and dont adjust the reg or hammer - you will be wasting air.

Far better to make sure your air flow is open as far as possible and reduce Reg Pressure and fine tune with the hammer tension. and watch your shot count go through the roof.

I also have the hammer spring set on minimum. At first when things were set high the rifle was blowing holes through my wood backstops. Much calmer now. I do not own a chronograph. This mad me reluctant to tune down the reg pressure.
Your response has much valuable info. Thank you

Any thoughts on barrel bands on the Dreamlite. The barrels flexibility is unnerving.

I paid closer attention to shot count. I got 120 shots from a 230 bar fill. Low power port and minimum hammer spring. 130 bar on the regulator. Pnetrating 1/2 inch plywood at 50 feet. I do not have a chrono.

Barrel band yes - get one of these https://www.huma-air.com/FX-Dreamline-Aluminium-Barrelband

Mine arrived this week and transformed the way it feels - solid!

130 on your reg is waaaaay to high for 20 yards plinking. This is to get .22 up to 850-900 FPS for 50 to 75 Yards work, also it sounds like you have the hammer weight in there- you can remove it to reduce power also.

Basically you have the regulator set very high
The hammer only just opening the valve, then its slamming shut under high pressure - this could prematurely wear out the valve stem or seat.
Then the TF port is fully restricted to slow the air right down.

Try this:

TF port on .25/.30
Regulator 60 bar
Then experiment this with the hammer knob until you get the same wood penetration that you currently have. if its still too hot then remove the hammer weight, and that will drop a couple of FPE on its own.

If you want to borrow a chrono I can lend you mine for a couple of beer tokens - it only measures in MPS - but it will let you know whats going on at the muzzel end!

I need to buy a chrono and barrel band. I had one “expert” tell me the barrel band is a bad idea as the pressure cylinder expands and contracts with pressure and hot vs. cold. This will move the POI. I will be curious to hear of your accuracy with the band in place. The 130 bar reg setting is the factory setting the gun shipped with. I am hesitant to change the pressure setting without a chrono. Especially with a shot count of 120 and nailing flies accuracy. I hate to screw that up.
