UK <12 fp air rifle shooting is limited to <50 metres or whatever your model will allow.
If you wish to shoot at longer ranges and have a venue where it is safe to do you will need to go through the process of obtaining a FAC to own a capable air rifle. The FAC application is not a straight forward process so I am advised, needing
a history of a responsible interest in shooting, gun ownership security, an approved place of use etc. Coupled with this shooting clubs are closed at present due to covid and there is a wish within the authorisation to reduce the number of FAC licences and measures to delay the application process. Any views on this out there?

It seems we are all living in an over governed world demanding more and more taxes to pay for an ever expanding expensive bureaucratic nightmare, no prizes for naming the beneficiarius of the system.
All air powered guns are potentially dangerous in the wrong untrained hands it would suggest an approach where an individual wishing to take up airgun shooting is required to attend a training course so they are aware of their responsibilities to do so. This could then be held in a document which is signed off by a local shooting club, firearms dealer and the police if required, verification against criminal or careless activities could then be obtained by cross checks at a local level.

Where I live (wiltshire) there are 17,000 FAC and Shot gun licenses so the police are busy on applications!
