Hello, I’m having trouble getting wild boars down with my both FX impacts 22 and 25 cal. shooting them in the head with pellets from 20 to 35 meters!! The pellets don’t seem to penetrate , what the best ammo you would recommend ?
Many thanks.

Look at solid, non-hollowpoint ammo - the heavier, the better.
Best to study what the experts use and HOW they use it. For instance, you say you're shooting them in the head. But, are you putting it in their ear hole? Maybe with your rig you should be going for heart/lung shots.
Just my 2c...

I have no experience shooting hogs, yet. But my 25 Avenger will shoot through 3/4 plywood (~19mm) with heavier pellets so I am pretty sure it would penetrate a hog skull. It seems to like JSB Heavies the best but MKII or H&N Baracudas shoot about as well and should penetrate about the same. Actually H&N pellets are a little harder so if they shoot well in your gun the Baracudas might be your best bet.

My only 22 is a Marauder Pistol tuned to about 17 fpe. I wouldn't try it on a hog regardless of projectile. If your 22 is in the 40-50 fpe range it might work but you may want to try shooting through a board to get an idea of it's penetration. I would want to see it go through at least a 1/2 inch (12mm) board. At the distance you plan to shoot a hog.

I believe the idea spot to hit a hog is half way between the eye and ear from the side. Front shots are reportedly iffy because the slant of the hog skull can cause them to glance off. The skull is thin between the eye and ear making it the best spot to get reliable penetration.
