I am hoping a rifle I ordered will be in ready for me to pick up by the end of this week and it is a bit if a drive to the shop, so I was wondering whether I would also get a HellBoy M4 which they have in stock.

Living in Devon I struck lucky finding a small gun shop in Plymouth with exceptional service. I believe the gent was Shaun and he was most professional, helpful, patient and sympathetic to our needs. In fact, rather than try to sell us more expensive kit, e.g. with the scopes, he explained about the benefits of alternative, less complicated and cheaper ones, but I preferred and settled on the one recommended by Andy of AAR.

I digress ... so back to the Hellboy M4 - I have seen a few reviews all favourable but 2 gents (Giles & Andy) out of the 5 I usually turn to haven’t covered it, so I thought I would ask if any one out there has any views which might be of help before I take the plunge, for which I would be most interested and grateful - thanks!

Suggest you handle one first - not my cup of tea - I must say...

Other than try before you buy I have nothing, sorry. At least try shouldering it and check your eye-line and whatnot.

Same as Mr Lover, not my cuppa.

Thank you both for your thoughts, very sound advice and makes good sense with buying any airgun.

The problem I find is that gun shops are few and far between and even large ones like Sportsman that are happy to advertise themselves as “Europe’s largest gun shop’ but they don’t carry the stock for you to see, let alone try out before considering to buy. This being so, I have to order the guns in first and this is why I rely heavily on video and written reviews, forums and gun specifications.

Furthermore, if I order a gun from Sportsman, it can take months to arrive and/or I can then get a call saying it’s not available etc. : hence why I have taken to travelling an hour to get to Pull The Trigger who, by the way give an excellent service.

Back to the Hellboy M4, I can well understand this not being to your cuppa tea having read nearly all of your 101 posts and can imagine it being massively under spec for your pleasure and requirements.

For me though, I bought it and love it and it fits in perfectly with my situation and needs of plinking in the back garden having fun with family and friends as well as adding to my ever-growing collection of replica airguns… horses for courses as they say.

So having had it for 3 few weeks now, we have put a good few BBs through it and us guys & gals all give it the thumbs up for price, build quality, accuracy and fun factor value.
