Is there a list of the preferred fps of the different pellets and slugs out there by the manufacturer JSB, H&N, Neilsen or by the gun manufacturers.

Hard air magazine do some good investigation articles.

I have heard people working on lists, but a google search also throws up some articles.

It has so many variations that its not an exact science, one barrel may not match exactly another - so its a kind of holy grail search - its why so many good people loose so many hours of their lives trying to tune their gun to the optimum speed....:p

Mm depends...
At fac velocities, in 177 velocity is vital,. Example :
My Diana 56th although deadly accurate was spiralling /corkscrew ing pellets at 915fps, research led me to Hector J Medina a world champion spring gun shooter and custom gunsmith with extensive knowledge of the 56.He advised 875/880 as the best velocity for the jsb heavies through this gun. I retuned the 56 to exactly this power level, and all spiralling gone, proved by extensive target sessions at various ranges.
The slight drop in velocity did the trick.
So in my experience, if you ask the right questions the research is not a waste of time at all.
Agreeing with everyone, the variables are endless. Matt Dubbers AirArmsHuntingSA has a series called Airgun Ballistics 101. It's packed with a wealth of knowledge and related videos covering everything related to projectile speeds and why pellets (prefer) certain speeds.
BlackRt, here's the video in Matt Dubbers Airgun Ballistics 101 series that came to mind, I think it would aid in answering your question.

(I have to scroll down once the page loads to reveal the vid) I hope it helps.
I better understand the velocity of a pellet from watching them .
