Just wondered what people are using, what they recommend and anything that anyone would advise against. I'm looking for something that will fit onto my sight for a bit of low-light rating in the yard and for bunnies in my paddocks I have a sub-12 ft-lb CO2 powered rifle so it's not worth breaking the bank. Anyone had any success with the cheap Chinese ebay specials at all?

Use a red light, as long as it has a red filter should do the trick, CO2, you don't need to much range...I used to use torches and put red sweet wrappers over the lense - or a bit or red craft film type stuff, will work the same.

Cheers Giles. Think I may have a punt on one of the ebay specials, which will take the usual ten weeks to get here (I could do a review here, maybe?). Sadly the only torch we've got is a Maglight that takes eight D cells, which might unbalance my POA a bit if I duct-tape it to my gun. Or bend the barrel.

Good tip on the red film, I'd forgotten that any light apart from red knackers your night vision.

Take care mate,

I bought something similar to this on Amazon. It has a rechargeable battery, and the clamp that comes with it fit my Crosman 2240 CO2 carbine, as well as all my other rifles.

https://www.amazon.com/WINDFIRE-Tactical-Flashlight-Adjustable-Predator/dp/B076Z8Y855/ref=sr_1_18?crid=1UZVS6RXZOP1I&dchild=1&keywords=red+flashlight+for+hunting&qid=1587777043&sprefix=Red+flashlight%2Caps%2C287&sr=8-18

Just search for "red hunting light" and you should get all sorts of options. I do like the idea of putting a red cellophane wrapper over a white light with a rubber band! Maybe you could just buy the clamp?

Good luck!

Thanks Bill, that looks identical to the ones on ebay for not too much money at all. I think I'll give one a go.

I'm shooting an SMK CP2 which isn't a million miles from the 2240, looking forward to getting a few rats out of the hay barn.
