After much deliberation I have finally decided that although in perfect world, a pcp would be my preferred option for consistent aiming, accuracy, quietness, multishot etc, and cost isnt a barrier, a springer will make life much simpler for me.
As ex-military, I recognise that I will have to adapt my shooting style, that the springer action cannot be effectively silenced, and I will have to reload/cock after every shot. I do like the idea of GRT because I understand it has a smoother action, easier to hold and shoot consistently, and is quieter that its spring alternative
I have looked at reviews for the BSA Lightning XL SE - GRT and the Gamo Whisper GRT as possibles but have found it difficult to make effective comparisons. Neither quoted ft lbs although I am not sure what difference 1 ft lb would make over relatively short distances. The BSA is the more expensive but I am not clear as to if that makes it a better gun. Gamo put together a package including scope and bag but I would likely want a better parallax free scope rather than the one fitted. I can afford to spend a bit because any purchase will be cheaper than a pcp package.
I would welcome the views of owners or users. Please feel free to correct any misconceptions that I may have, Finally, as I am unlikely to be hunting small game beyond 35 yards, I would interested in your views regarding preference for 177/22 at feather and fur prey.
Thank you
